Why do Cats’ Eyes Glow Like Radium in the Dark?

Cats, as well as some other animals, have specialised cells in their eyes called the tapetum lucidum.

These cells are in a layer at the back of the retinas and act like a mirror to enhance what light there is. This is what causes their eyes to glow.
