The Fascinating Mating Ritual of Butterflies

Butterflies are always seen playfully chasing each other in flight. The male butterfly will chase the female as the latter dives to evade the former. If she accepts his advances, they will mate in flight, resulting in the fertilisation of the eggs by males. She may also reject him – gracefully displaying her intentions by resting with the wings flat on the ground and the abdomen pointing upwards. These are the fascinating behaviour of butterflies.
