Why Are Flamingos Pink?

Flamingos have grey or white coloured feathers when they are young. However, they develop pink feathers as we commonly see due to their diet that consists of brine shrimp and algae. This is because algae contains a pigment called carotenoid that is metabolised in their digestive system.
